So usually when I read the Bible, I stick with the letters to the church written by Paul and such. But after going through all those, I figured that it was time to read about Jesus’ life. Even though I’ve learned so much about Jesus during my childhood and in Sunday school, I still think it’s so great to be able to go back to the source and truly see the way God worked through Jesus when He was on earth.
Below are some verses I found really insightful and interesting:
John 1:10-13 “10 He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. 11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.”
John 3:19-21 “19 And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. 20 All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. 21 But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.”
John 4:13-14 “13 Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. 14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
John 4:35-37 “But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe[a] for harvest. 36 The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike! 37You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And it’s true.”
It’s just been so cool gazing back into the life of Jesus and receving new thoughts about His mission on earth and all that He came here to do for us. He truly came here so that not one of us would perish. He wants to give us living water–abounding in our soul and spirit–and spreading to all those around us. Through Christ’s example, we can truly live a Spirit filled life. All we need to do is receive.
