This passage never ever gets old.
“21 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. 22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.”
How I delight in the fact that God loves me no matter what I have done against Him. I was born a sinner, yet God had so much compassion that He sent His Son to die for me anyways.
Romans 5:7-9 says this so perfectly.
“7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.”
Wow! What selfless love Christ has had for us. When I think about His sacrifice, I cannot even fathom paying Him back 1/1,000 of what He’s given me. And that’s what’s so amazing about God–He doesn’t expect us to pay Him back. He just wants us to love Him.
